The Versatility Of Potatoes

One of the most versatile foods are potatoes. They taste scrumptious prepared just about any way you choose. They can be mashed or whipped, and served with or without gravy, as a side dish. Some meals that mashed potatoes go particularly well with are: Meat loaf, fried chicken, pork chops, and of course there are many other combinations. It all depends on what people want to serve their mashed potatoes with.

Another popular way to prepare potatoes is by baking them. Baked potatoes go great with just about anything, especially steak and chicken, or even by them selves. A baked potato topped with butter, cheese, vegetables, bacon, or whatever a person may crave, can be made into a very filling meal, with no need to add anything else. Sour cream and chives or broccoli and cheddar cheese are some other yummy combinations to place on potatoes.

French fries are another extremely well-liked way for potatoes to be served. There are numerous creative ways of making potatoes into French fries, too. Curly fries, shoe strings, steak fries, etc. French fries go well with any and everything. Hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken strips?everything. It is the number one thing that fast food hamburger establishments serve with their sandwiches.

Potatoes can even be made into casseroles, with cheese, butter, onions, and many other ingredients. The starch from the potatoes makes delicious-tasting, thick gravy that really enhances the food?s flavor.

Let?s not forget about breakfast, either. Since potatoes are so versatile, they are frequently served for breakfast, with grits, eggs, meat, toast, etc. They can be shredded into hash browns, which is how they?re usually served for breakfast. Home fries is another way that people eat them for breakfast, as well.

People love potato pancakes, too, which consist of leftover mashed potatoes, mixed with seasoning, onions and flour, then the mixture is fried until they are crisp. This can be eaten with any meal a person chooses, or even alone, as a snack.

Several variations of potato soups are also a good choice, because soup is very filling, tasty, as well as healthy. Countless recipes can be found on the internet or in cookbooks.
